The team over at the Followers of the Force podcast chat with Richard Edlund, the special effects cinematographer on Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi to discuss events that took place a long time ago.

Forty years ago today, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back was released in the United States. Equipped with more groundbreaking special effects, arguably the greatest twist of all time, and superb performances, Empire is often heralded as the best film in the saga.

One man, among many, who was responsible for these groundbreaking visual effects is the legendary visual effects supervisor for the original trilogy Richard Edlund.

Aside from Star Wars, Richard worked on Raiders of the Lost Ark, Poltergeist, Ghostbusters, and Alien 3, among others.

In this interview, Richard talks about working on Empire, recounts the creation of the Battle of Hoth, the all-Star crew assembled for the film, and so much more.
