Welcome, you’ve just made Point Five Past Lightspeed and that means you’re about to learn five things about our latest special guest. This week it’s Star Wars Rebels star Vanessa Marshall.

FT: Your first choice is one of the heroic cornerstones of the entire saga.

VM: When Luke is able to destroy the Death Star using the force in A New Hope. This demonstrates true faith, fearlessness and the power of teamwork (as Han swoops in to give him much needed coverage). Both Han and Luke are utterly heroic together!

FT: Your next choice follows THE shock moment of The Empire Strikes Back, when Luke has a terrible decision to make.

VM: Luke would rather fall to his possible death than join his father and the dark side in The Empire Strikes Back, Luke’s commitment to his path is admirable. This takes true courage!

FT: Stepping back to the era of the Clone Wars you chose an Ahsoka moment that led to a huge change for her character and massive fan reaction.

VM: In The Clone Wars, Season 5, when Ahsoka would rather take her chances diving into the abyss beneath her than be captured by Anakin and tried by the Jedi counsel for a crime she did not commit, she too exhibits bravery and integrity. There is something very moving about her leap of faith!

FT: Yoda has proved his mettle time and time again and you chose as powerful moment from The Clone Wars very first episode.

VM: Yoda’s fight scene in the first episode of The Clone Wars was also remarkable. No doubt his battle with Darth Sidious in Revenge of the Sith is quite amazing as well, but when Yoda alone defeats the Asajj Ventress droid army, it is clear that size indeed does not matter! Another profoundly heroic moment that stands out for me!

FT: You finish with the ultimate sacrifice from A New Hope.

VM: When Obi-Wan ultimately puts down his lightsaber, in A New Hope, when he is confronted by Darth Vader, only to disappear into thin air – becoming “more powerful than you can possibly imagine,” his transcendent ability to willingly surrender into “death” and embrace a spiritual rebirth is supremely heroic to me!
