It’s a big beast and it’s now out in the wilds of the galaxy, but here see how the new Regal Robot Wampa handles meeting its senior – albeit slightly smaller – Kenner counterpart.

During the making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™, some shots of the Wampa™ were made with a costumed actor, however, the dramatic first close-ups of the creature when it attacks Luke on his Tauntaun were actually achieved with a puppet crafted by legendary creature maker, Phil Tippett!

Our static resin and mixed media bust is a faithful replica of that puppet and was created with a highly detailed laser scan and extensive, hands-on research of the original prop artifact used in the film

We’ve been out on a Hoth adventure, attending and hosting panels at Hoth Strikes Back in Finse – the only exterior shooting locations of The Empire Strkes Back – and starting this week we’ll be bringing coverage of the event here on the site, Fantha Tracks TV, even more coverage on our ever-busy social channels, Fantha Tracks Radio and more, so stay tuned.
