The Black Series Wishlist: Part One

The time has come again for fans to start creating their Black Series wishlists for next year, and these are the figures you absolutely have to have. You could be tired of seeing the same figures again and again, or even ones you don’t care about, but as for me I don’t collect the toys as much as some people do, but I do like to speculate. Most of my choices are from comics, books, Legends and long-forgotten characters, and because I’m special I not only created my initial choices, but thought of so many more (stay tuned over the next couple of weeks). I tried to avoid ones I’ve suggested before, so all these should be brand new.

The Nameless (The High Republic)
These mysterious creatures are what drew me into the The High Republic They’re deadly, emaciated, savage-looking beasts with the ability to utterly destroy Jedi. Give me some natural ones followed by ones with cybernetic parts.

Bones (Aftermath novels)
The psychotic personal battle droid of Snap Wexley, covered in red paint, bones and sharp implements. Now I know you can just paint a standard battle droid, but it’s not quite the same…

The Grandmaster (Ronin)
My ultimate new favorite bad guy from Visions. He’s more machine now than man, with superhuman speed and General Grievous legs. Plus he’s super creepy with a smiling mask covering his droid face. He is obsessed with justice over the Sith, so much that he forgets he’s crossed over to the dark side.

Afro-Samurai Mace Windu (Ronin comic)
He may or not be a Mace Windu “variant” from the Ronin Visions Universe but he does basically say “this party’s over.” He’s got crazy hair, he’s blind but he was the Shogun for the Jedi Order. He has lots of sake and a lightsaber.

Baron Boolan (The High Republic)
The most evil Ithorian you’d ever see! Translator on his neck, sci-fi monocle and spikey epaulets on his shoulders. He grew up with the Path of the Open Hand and became a horrible scientist, experimenting on the Nameless, Jedi and other sentient creatures. Last time I looked in on him, he was captured by the Jedi.

Captain Paelleon (The Mandalorian)
Just another Imperial officer who has a great mustache, but so much more. He will probably play a big role next to Thrawn in the upcoming movies and TV shows. Previously, in Legends, he played a huge role in the New Republic\Imperial relations.

Spider Tank Cyborg (Mandalorian)
This thing had a brief appearance in the Mandalorian, defeating the title character before being killed by Bo Katan. There weren’t enough complete shots of the creature but this deluxe figure can change all that.

Vaneé – cyborg version (Darth’s Vader attendant, The Rise of Kylo Ren)
Such a unique figure–kind of a cross between a B’Omarr monk and a Mandalorian battle droid. He has to have a floating Vaneé head and lots of accessories for his droid body.

Gallius Rex (Battle of Jakku)
He has such a regal-looking uniform and was so mysterious during the Aftermath novels. Was he Force-sensitive? He also likes gold on that uniform, very distinguished.

Moff Addlehard (Battle of Jakku)
He has one of the most unique looking Imperial uniforms: white but with a gray upper half, kind of like (gasp) a Star Trek: Next Generation uniform, but with tassels and weapons. Maybe it’s because he is a Moff, waging a disinformation campaign in his sector, or maybe because he has a beard. Also a false sense of Imperial destiny.

Commander Bragh (Battle of Jakku)
Big, huge guy wearing customized Purge armor with red stripes who was Addelhard’s second in command and carried a big gun. Looked cool but died relatively easily.

Emperor’s Messenger – The Sentinel (Battle of Jakku)
These creepy Emperor Palpatine droids were apparently secreted in Imperial ships, ready to pop out whenever the Emperor had an important message, in this case, Operation Cinder. What would be cool if the inside of the helmet had some sort of hologram (like in old ‘80’s kids toys) “projecting” Palpatine’s face. Other iterations of this droid had weaponry as well.

Come back next week for the second part of our The Black Series Wishlist.

Michael Davis
Michael Davis
Michael F. Davis became obsessed with Star Wars after repeated viewings of The Empire Strikes Back on VHS and a 1983 viewing of Return of the Jedi in movie theaters. He also saw all the Special Editions in the theater, bought all the Shadows of the Empire tie-ins, and even took a bus trip to Maine to see The Phantom Menace. He is currently employed as a Librarian in the US but has always has his sights on a galaxy far, far, away….
