Academy Museum of Motion Pictures: A Day of Celebrating the Force

Sunday 3rd May at 11.00am is the time that the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures open the doors on A Day of Celebrating the Force, a chance to meet BB-8 and R2-D2, do STEM activities, grab photographs and end the day with a screening of The Empire Strikes Back, with Billy Dee Williams.

Whether you’re a Padawan, Jedi, or Sith, we have a good feeling about this day full of Star Wars-themed fun. Join us for a droid meet and greet, all-ages workshops, origami and puppet-crafting, and more, all inspired by a galaxy far, far away.

Take photos with some of your favorite fan-built droids. General admission ticket not required.

Noon–3pm | Crafting workshop | Ted Mann Lobby

Drop in and create Star Wars-inspired buttons, origami paper characters, and porg puppets.

Noon–3pm | Save the galaxy with cosplay for science—and Grogu | Shirley Temple Education Studio

Earth scientists in full Star Wars cosplay reveal the wonders of planets far, far away. Through immersive activities perfect for any kind of Jedi, our visiting experts will also stress the importance of environmental conservation in every corner of the universe. Learn alongside a fan-built Grogu animatronic, who assists our scientists with these STEM activities.

2:30pm | Force show and demonstration | Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby

Learn the ways of the Force with an interactive performance by Skywalker Temple. All ages are welcomed.

3–5pm | … R2-D2 and BB8 meet and greet | Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby

Last chance to take photos with some of your favorite fan-built droids. General admission ticket not required.
