It feels like a long-running Star Wars tradition. It is actually just getting started. The Forest Moon Festival began in 2023, created by the Humboldt–Del Norte Film Commission to mark the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi, which filmed its iconic Endor sequences in the region’s redwood forests.
Located in Northern California near the Oregon border, Humboldt’s towering redwoods helped bring Endor to life, making the area a quiet but important part of Star Wars history.
Since its launch, the festival has become an annual event, with this year’s celebration set for May 28 to 31. It is now drawing growing interest and attendance from Star Wars fans and curious visitors alike.
All are welcome, whether you arrive in costume, in curiosity, or channeling your inner Ewok.
