Both Star Wars fans and aspiring action performers will soon be able to step into the world of cinematic light saber combat, as British Action Academy hosts its next Saber Masterclass at Longcross South Studios on Friday 12th June 2026.
This one-day action packed training experience gives participants the chance to learn the techniques, routines and performance skills behind lightsaber combat. Designed as a professional cinematic light saber combat course, the masterclass combines using practical training and realistic light saber weapon systems and trains all students to safely practice, performed and enjoy performing on a realistic Star Wars style film set.
Created and taught by leading stunt and action specialist Andreas Petrides, who was also Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Stunt Double, Fight Arranger and Second Unit Stunt Co-ordinator on Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. The Saber Masterclass is for anyone with a passion for action cinema, sci-fi storytelling or
performing screen combat. Throughout the day, participants will learn the fundamentals of light saber screen combat, including style, stance, movement, acting performance and how to perform to a camera, using both single and double-ended light sabers. The experience also includes professionally filmed 4K footage and photos of each performance which each participant can keep and cherish after the course, giving them a memorable record of their training day.
Andreas Petrides, founder and Chief Instructor of British Action Academy, says, “Cinematic light saber combat is about much more than swinging a weapon. It’s about timing, distance, rhythm, safety and storytelling. The best screen fights are built around character and camera, and the Saber masterclass gives people the chance to experience that process for themselves”.
Based at Longcross South Studios, the Saber Masterclass offers a rare opportunity to train in a film studio environment where three Star Wars productions were filmed and learn from the UK’s leading action academy that specialises in the training of action performance.
The next Saber Masterclass takes place on Friday 12th June 2026 at Longcross South Studios. Places can be booked via the British Action Academy website.
