Papplewick Pumping Station Sci-Fi Steam Weekend

This Bank Holiday Weekend of 26th – 27th May, Papplewick Pumping Station in North Nottinghamshire will be hosting their first ever Sci-Fi Steam Weekend.

The event will attend by the UK Garrison, and Monday will also see Brian Johnson, the BAFTA and Academy Award winning Special Effects Designer for Alien and The Empire Strikes Back.

For the first time Papplewick Pumping Station is hosting a Sci-Fi themed steaming event on May 26th/27th, 11am-5pm.

In attendance and signing autographs on both days will be: Matt Zimmerman, (voice of Alan Tracy from Thunderbirds, Thunderbirds Are Go, Thunderbird 6, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Space 1999) and Oscar winning special effects designer Brian Johnson (2001 Space Odyssey, Alien, The Empire Strikes Back). Also, one of the foremost Star Wars costumer groups, the 501st Legion UK Garrison will be with us on the Sunday including Darth Vader. There will be an array of models on display including the original Eagle 1 from Space 1999.

Plus on the Monday performances by Charlie Draper playing the Theremin inside the Engine House. There will also be a selection of sci-fi and movie themed stalls plus science fiction inspired face painting by Leann Scott.

The James Watt beam engines, Linby Colliery Winding engine and miniature railway will be in steam as well as guided tours of the underground reservoir.
Adult – £10, Senior – £8.50, Under 16s – FREE. All tickets valid for 12 months.
