2024 is all but complete, and one of the highlights of the year was The Acolyte, which launched in June and ran for 8 episodes to mixed reviews until Disney announced the series would not return in August, much to the disappointment of those members of the fandom who were thrilled by the show. Speaking with Vulture, the co-chairman of Disney Entertainment Alan Bergman explained why the show wasn’t renewed.

“We were happy with our performance, but it wasn’t where we needed it to be given the cost structure of that title, quite frankly, to go and make a season two, so that’s the reason why we didn’t do that.”

Despite the end of The Acolyte, Bergman did point to future seasons of existing shows, with more unrevealed shows to follow.

“In terms of what’s coming up, we have ‘Andor’ season two, which we’re really excited about. It is excellent. I’ve watched all the episodes, and it is a fantastic season. And then we have ‘Ahsoka’ season two, which Dave Filoni is leading, and then we’re looking at a number of additional series that are in development. We’ll see what we decide to do. As I said earlier, they have to be great.”

The Acolyte may be done, but there’s plenty more to be excited for from the GFFA.
