Imagine handing a veteran TV presenter a $35,000 movie prop – and not just any prop, but Mace Windu’s lightsaber from Attack of the Clones – as he goes live from Los Angeles back to the UK on popular morning show Lorraine and watching as he snaps a part of it off on live TV. That happened, and here’s how.

He said: “All this stuff made for the movies. This from Star Wars Attack of the Clones.

“This was the one used by Samuel L Jackson. How much do you reckon this may go for? $25-30,000.”

He then swooshed the lightsaber around a little as if he was pretending to use it, before handing it over to a member of the crew who was standing off camera.

That’s when something seemed to break off in his hands.

“Oh, woops,” he said, as he looked at the camera with a very worried look on his face.

He then held up what looked like a piece of metal before swiftly handing it back to his off-screen aide.

Lorraine started laughing in shock before pulling a worried face.

“Oh no,” she said. “You know that you said that was worth 35 thousand dollars?

“It’s maybe now worth 35 dollars.”
