On the verge of a new movie, with a third shooting within the next few months, you could be forgiven for allowing Daisy Ridley to be thinking beyond the end of the sequel trilogy and on to new horizons.

That said, her comments last week caused quite the kerfuffle, and now speaking with BBC Newsbeat Daisy has made it clear that she has no desire to leave Star Wars.

“When I did sign up, I did sign up for three films and that’s where I sort of saw the story ending. I think everyone has perhaps taken that as me going, ‘I don’t want anything to do with it’ which is vastly untrue because this is awesome.”

Naturally, since we have no idea where Rian Johnson’s trilogy will take us – to the distant past, the far future, right alongside the current trilogy, who knows – there may well be more Rey tales in the future.

Before any of that we have Episode IX and a returning J.J. Abrams.

“JJ has always put brilliant females in his things, so I think it was wonderful and then the fact it came from a big studio says a lot too, and I think there’s a big change already.

“Obviously there’s still a long way to go.”

There sure is.
