George Lucas returning to make Kenobi: A Star Wars Story….according to Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson is rightly proud of the British film industry. Indeed, the UK can lay claim to being the home of many of the biggest blockbusters of the 70’s and 80’s in the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogies and more recently the return of the saga to Pinewood, Avengers: Infinity War and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

That said Boris, speaking at the DUP Annual Conference in Belfast earlier today, made some bold claims regarding the status of the oft-rumoured Obi-Wan Kenobi film.

“Which was the biggest grossing movie last year? Star Wars, and where does George Lucas propose to make a follow up about Obi-Wan Kenobi? Northern Ireland.”

He’s right about Star Wars being the highest grossing film worldwide last year, with The Last Jedi grossing north of $1.3 billion, but Lucas returning to the fold? Very highly unlikely (though we would certainly welcome the involvement of The Maker), but fingers crossed that we get some news regarding the status of the next stand alone.
