ILM nab two nominations at the 79th annual BAFTA Awards

With the awards taking place on Sunday 22nd February at the Royal Festival Hall, the 79th BAFTA Awards will bring together the cream of British and international talent, and this year that will see two ILM projects nominated in the Best Visual Effects category. Frankenstein and The Lost Bus are up for the award, as well as two other films (Avatar: Fire and Ash and F1) which feature visual effects from ILM.

Industrial Light & Magic have earned two nominations in Outstanding Visual Effects for their work on Frankenstein and The Lost Bus.

ILM visual effects supervisor Ivan Busquets joins fellow visual effects supervisors Dennis Berardi and Ayo Burgess and model effects supervisor José Granell for director Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

And for The Lost Bus from director Paul Greengrass, ILM visual effects supervisor David Zaretti joins production visual effects supervisor Charlie Noble and special effects coordinator Brandon K. McLaughlin.

Skywalker Sound was also nominated for Best Sound, with four projects (F1, ONe Battle After Another, Frankenstein and Sinners) in the running:

F1 – Gareth John, Al Nelson, Gwendolyn Yates Whittle, Gary A. Rizzo and Juan Peralta
Frankenstein – Greg Chapman, Nathan Robitaille, Nelson Ferreira, Christian Cooke and Brad Zoern
One Battle After Another – José Antonio García, Christopher Scarabosio and Tony Villaflor
Sinners – Chris Welcker, Benny Burtt, Brandon Proctor, Steve Boeddeker and Felipe Pacheco
Warfare – Mitch Lowe, Ben Barker, Howard Bargroff and Richard Spooner
