He’s swiftly becoming one of the busiest actors in the business – and rightly so, because he’s brilliant – and more good news arrives as The Hollywood Reporter reveal that John is in negotiations to make his next project an adaptation of Sergio De La Pava’s 2008 debut novel A Naked Singularity.

The film will be an adaptation of Sergio De La Pava’s debut novel of the same name, which follows Casi, who works in New York as a successful public defender. He begins to strain under the weight of his work and starts to question everything after he loses his first case. The sprawling novel, which explores the American criminal justice system, was first self-published in 2008 and republished in 2012. It later won the PEN Prize for Debut Fiction.

David Matthews (Narcos, Vinyl, Tyrant) penned the script, with Chase Palmer, who wrote the screenplay for 2017’s horror hit It, coming on to also work on the script and will direct.

Scott Free Productions, which has Wash Westmoreland’s The Earthquake Bird for Netflix, starring Alicia Vikander, coming up next, is producing the film, with 3311 Productions (Table 19, Brigsby Bear) financing. Tony Ganz is also producing.
