In a summer already hit by the cancellation of London Film and Comic Con, another cancellation is announced: Starfury Invasion, set to land at the Hilton Metropole this weekend in Birmingham with guests Felicity Jones, John Boyega, Genevieve O’Reilly, Denise Gough, Alistair McKenzie and Pierro Niel Mee is no longer going ahead, leaving attendees travelling in from around the world with some difficult and expensive decisions to make. IMPORTANT UPDATE
It is with profound regret that we must announce the cancellation of Starfury: Invasion, which was due to take place this weekend.
Over Starfury’s 29-year history, cancelling an event has always been a last resort, and on the rare occasion this has ever happened we have provided attendees with as much notice as we can. It is unprecedented to be in the position that we are in now, of having to cancel in the run up to the event. For the past several weeks, I have been working hard to find a way for Invasion to proceed as planned, and until today I remained hopeful that the event could still go ahead.
Unfortunately, a combination of significant and unforeseen changes which meant that we could no longer hold the event as advertised, together with ongoing health-related circumstances and other operational challenges affecting the event, have left us with no viable way to deliver the convention to the standard that attendees, guests and staff rightly expect.
After careful consideration, the difficult decision has therefore been taken to cancel the event.
I fully appreciate how disappointing this news will be, particularly given the short notice, and I would like to offer my sincere apologies to everyone who was looking forward to attending. I know that some of you have made plans around the event, and I am genuinely sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this cancellation will cause.
The Hilton will cancel all bookings made through the official event booking link and will refund any deposits paid. If you booked accommodation through a third-party provider, please contact them directly regarding their cancellation and refund policies.
All tickets and pre-purchased extras will be refunded in full. Alternatively, tickets may currently be transferred to another Starfury event via Leap Events should you wish to do so.
The refund process will begin next week and will be handled in batches. We appreciate your patience while we work through these refunds as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your support, understanding and loyalty to Starfury over the years. This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, and we are deeply sorry that Invasion will not be taking place.
