It’s beginning to look a lot like Sithmas as The Last Jedi blows through the $100 million mark in the States in just over a day, heading towards a $215 – $220 million dollar opening weekend, giving it a good chance of making it the second largest US opening weekend  so far, behind only The Force Awakens.

After taking in an estimated $104.78 million on Friday, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is looking at a $215+ million three-day debut. This is the second largest Friday ever behind only The Force Awakens ($119.1 million). The film received an “A” CinemaScore.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi delivered an estimated $45 million from Thursday evening previews last night, amounting to the second largest domestic preview gross of all time behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 55% ahead of Rogue One‘s $29 million from previews last year. The film also began its international roll-out on December 13 in 14 markets where it has so far grossed an estimated $60.8 million.

Overall, Disney reports the opening two days of The Last Jedi internationally are +63% ahead of Rogue One and only -25% behind The Force Awakens when looking at the same suite of markets and adjusting for today’s exchange rates.

We will bring a deeper look into the final figures early next week, including a look at the worldwide box office, an indicator of how well the film should do over the next 4-6 weeks.
