Sad news following the recent passing of Mark Dodson and Michael Culver, we lose another member of the original trilogy crew. Prop maker Bill Hargreaves has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of classic creatures and droids that includes IG-88, the mynock and the probe droid. A regular on the UK convention scene, he was a gentleman who will be very greatly missed.

His original trilogy colleague Alan Flyng was among the first to pay his respects to Bill.

“I am very upset to learn of my old friend’s passing, as we worked together closely on many films over the last 45 years together. A truer or more supportive colleague is a huge loss. Go with God Bill Hargreaves! You were one of the best! XXX.”

Toby Philpott also paid tribute to Bill.

Very sad news today. What a lovely man. RIP, Bill.

Back in 2019 at Granite City Comic Con we were fortunate enough to sit down with Bill, a conversation you can watch below.
