Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, topping the Disney Plus global charts

Viewers of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord will already know what a beautifully crafted, engrossing and impressive season of television Lucasfilm have delivered, with it’s 7th and 8th episodes landing today ahead of the final two episodes of the season arriving on 4th May. To underline just what a winning season of GFFA TV this is, FlixPatrol reveal that globally, Maul – Shadow Lord was the number one Disney Plus show around the world as of 23rd April (todays chart is almost entirely dominated by The Devil Wears Prada) which means one thing – there’s hope for this planet yet.

Data from FlixPatrol shows that Maul — Shadow Lord is currently the #1 TV Show on Disney+ globally as of April 23, 2026. The series has maintained the top ranking in the United States on Disney+ since April 18, and it tops the charts in two other countries as well: Canada and Germany. Its chart success comes mere weeks after the show made its debut on April 6, with ten episodes planned as part of its first season, which will run weekly through May 4.

Critical and fan reception of Maul – Shadow Lord has been overwhelmingly positive so far, with the first season boasting an impressive 98% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 40 critics’ reviews. Audiences have praised the series too; it sits at an 89% Popcornmeter from over 250 user reviews.

The Rotten Tomatoes consensus calls Maul — Shadow Lord “an inspired look into the depths of an iconic character,” adding that the series “once again proves that through kinetic, vibrant, and engaging animation, the Star Wars saga can continue in masterful spades.”
