Take a good look at this fascinating cutaway of Luke’s lightsaber, created for the Visual Dictionary, which allows us a look at the guts of the weapon of a Jedi, with two of the most qualified experts in the galaxy; Lucasfilm archivist Don Bies and the eternally curious Adam Savage.

Adam welcomes back Don Bies, former ILM model supervisor and Lucasfilm archivist, to the cave to check out some physical artifacts from his Star Wars modelmaking portfolio. One particularly interesting piece is a cutaway lightsaber Don constructed for the Star Wars Visual Dictionary, which was the first time fans got an official look inside Luke’s lightsaber hilt!
