Will Indiana Jones 5 be set in the 1960’s?

Indiana Jones 5 director James Mangold has dropped an interesting tease, hinting – and perfectly logically – that like the other films currently on his plate (Bob Dylan biopic Going Electric and New York cop film The Force) his Indiana Jones adventure will be set in the 1960’s.

Looking at the numbers, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, released in 2008, was set in 1957, so with Indy 5 arriving 14 years later in 2022, dropping the film in the late 60’s isn’t too much of a stretch. We live in hope that Indiana rolls through San Anselmo sometime during 1974 as a young George Lucas begins writing the adventures of Indiana Smith.
