When it comes to excellence in the realms of fangenuity – expressions of love for the saga made and developed by talented fans of the series – this one takes some beating. A virtual reality version of the classic 1983 Star Wars Arcade attack on the Death Star so many will remember, but with a 21st century VR upgrade.

Watch this gameplay look at the trench run above and feel the exhiliration of that legendary battle all over again, and for comparison take a look at the ’83 original below.

Project Stardust is an X-Wing cockpit simulator for Virtual Reality. The project was created Fall 2018 at the University of Utah for a Virtual Reality Sickness (VRS) research study of high-velocity simulations. The study maps the correlation between the number of reference points in a virtual environment and VRS symptoms.

The above is a video of version 0.81 — the most recent publicly released version of Project Stardust

This project was developed by a one-man team: Dylan Stout
