Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has caught the attention of Star Wars fans from around the galaxy and game director Stig Asmussen from Respawn discussed why they made the decision to have a male lead protagonist rather than a female or alien one.

“We talked about different gender. We arrived where we were because at the time, Rey was the thing for Star Wars, and so it made a lot more sense for us to have a male protagonist.”

An alien protagonist was considered, but Asmussen explains why they decided not to go down that route.

“Ultimately we didn’t go with an alien race because we felt like – no pun intended – that would alienate a lot of people. We wanted to make sure there was a real human connection to that character we have in the game.”

In what is arguably the most diverse galaxy in popular fiction, with furry aliens mixing it up with giant insects, slugs, droids, reptiles and humans of every conceivable sexual preference an alien lead might have been an interesting change of pace, but whatever the makeup of the lead character the game looks monumentally impressive and will arrive on 15th November.
