Check out this great example of fangenuity, using new skills to bring life to a classic from the late 70’s as this Vintage Luke X-Wing figure comes to ‘life’ thanks to this cool CG render by Retro & Reissue, aka Napyet Rik O’Neill who sent this great message.

Hello Fantha Tracks! Big fan of the site – my go-to source for the latest SW News.

I thought you might find this short video study of interest. The idea is to recreate vintage Star Wars action figures in digital format as I learn the intricacies of 3D modelling. I think it would be really cool to do all 90+ figures!

It’s not meant to be a 100% accurate representation (an example being Luke’s lightsaber for this piece – which was obviously never released in this form). But the more “interpretive” approach allows the models to be posed with an animation rig within the 3D program I’m using.

Keep up the great work!

Choosing a subject I’m interested in seemed like a good idea as I learn the basics of 3D modelling in Blender. The vintage Luke X-Wing action figure is one of my favourites from the original Star Wars action figure line.

Awesome work….wonder if they’re up for creating a 3D Fantha…?
