It says a lot about the strength of Star Wars that four years after its last big screen adventure, the saga is still considered to be the top film franchise. At least it is according to Fandom, who took a poll at the end of the year which saw the GFFA ahead of the House of Mouse, the Wizarding World, the MCU and more – all of which have had films out in the years since The Rise of Skywalker took a billion dollars globally in 2019.

Fandom’s top 10 film franchises of 2023

Star Wars
Disney
Harry Potter
The Marvel Cinematic Universe
The DC Extended Universe
The Hunger Games
Jurassic Park
Dune
James Bond
Avatar

Clearly, the small screen releases are keeping the broader franchise high in the hearts and minds of the cinemagoing public – just imagine how popular the franchise when the last film arrives.
