Episode 7: Announcement
Official summary: The repercussions of the Aldhani heist reach all the way to Coruscant, while Cassian returns home.
Trivia
Not since The Holiday Special we have had people watch something as part of their daily lives. While it was entertainment shows then, it is a news report in this episode. We’ve had in-universe news reporting sites before, the most well-known being the HoloNet News which appeared in various indications like as a website, Insider articles and even as audio recordings shared online.
Colonel Wullf Yularen finally makes his appearance within the ISB. Originally an unnamed extra in A New Hope played by Robert Clarke and voiced by Tom Kane in The Clone Wars and Rebels, this time the actor Malcolm Sinclair was cast for the role.
While the Public Order Resentencing Directive is new, the Class 1 Offence comes from West End Games.
New items in Luthen’s gallery are a Gungan energy shield and a Jedi Temple Guard helmet.
It turns out that Uncle Harlo works for the Bureau of Standards, and is not the first name of Dedra’s aide Heeks as we speculated.
Aurebesh seen at Coruscant Spaceport: ‘PLEASE MIND THE GAP DOORS ARE CLOSING’. In the hallway where Vel takes a corner the sign first says ‘TASTY PEEZOS’ before changing into ‘CARRY YOUR CHAIN CODE – FROM THE ISB’. Chain codes are identification markers first introduced in The Mandalorian. Peezos are later mentioned again in the episode
Also at the Coruscant Spaceport we see guards (border patrol probably) wearing all white, with a Rebel fleet trooper kind of helmet.
Maarva’s house has been the source of plenty vintage items returning that most people would not recognize anymore. This time a big globe can be spotted, with the landmass on it not one of Earth, as it should be. If this is a globe of Ferrix, as seems logical, then it appears that a big portion of the southern hemisphere is a big ocean.
At Mon Mothma’s diner party we see a SA-5 protocol droid and a Dor Namethian looking a lot like Lexo Sooger who was seen in The Last Jedi on Canto Bight. An unnamed insectoid species from that same movie, where the alien was a character named Neeva, also appears at the party.
Mon Mothma adds another ally to the network that she is building for the Rebellion: Tay Kolma. She mentions that only three people know about the whole Rebellion; those three presumably are Mothma herself, Bail Organa and Luthen. In Legends the threesome who formally started the Rebellion were also Bail and Mothma, along with Garm Bel Iblis.
Mon Mothma protects good Separatists, besides that this offers a nice point that there are heroes and villains on both sides in a conflict; it also brings to mind people like Lux and Mina Bonteri.
The clone troopers in the flashback wear the Phase 2 armor. Like with Obi-Wan Kenobi, they are now live-action. The alien seen in the background is of an unnamed species that appeared before in The Rise of Skywalker with Euphaus Biro.
A frequent used planet for a namedrop is mentioned in this episode as well: Ord Mantell. It will probably be seen again in The Bad Batch Season 2.
Revnog and Peezos are mentioned, both food items with revnog being a drink we had mentioned before in the series.
A massif is mentioned by the judge. These dogs have been used a lot recently, appearing in The Mandalorian and The Book Of Boba Fett.
The alien guard during the sentencing is a Lacertilo, a species first appearing in The Rise Of Skywalker.
The cards that you see on Niamos during the sentencing do not match the unknown person who walked an unchained massif or Cassian’s punishment. The first one reads ‘Name: Richard Stevenson. Crime: Failure to follow Imperial command, anti-Imperial vandalism. Sentence: Five years’. The card with Cassian reads ‘Name: Keith Seymour. Crime: suspected Force sensitivity, assaulting an Imperial officer. Sentence: twenty-five years’. Keith Seymour is a concept artist on the series.
The end credits mention a character named Flob who was portrayed by Alex Blake. This character is not yet clearly seen and appears to be someone at the Bureau Of Standards.
