StarWars.com catch up with the primary players of the golden age of ILM, days when the company first started with little more than dreams, enthusiasm, a cheque from George Lucas and some incredible innovation which was the focus of the six-part Disney Plus series Light & Magic.

“It is something that could never happen again,” director and visual effects artist Joe Johnston tells StarWars.com, “All these different elements came together — some of which had to be created on the spot! They didn’t exist, like the motion control. And there were these people, many of whom hadn’t worked in film before, but they had a specific skill and a talent to do one thing. It was just something that came together at that moment in time that could never be repeated again. And you know, we were all lucky to have been a part of it.”

The article runs right up to the modern era of ILM, so be sure to have a read, and stay tuned to Fantha Tracks and Fantha Tracks Radio for more from Light & Magic.
