Arriving 1st December 2023, the Skywalker Pilot Collection from Columbia is custom made to make any fan stand out from the crowd, be it on the streets or the slopes, and while I’d hardly describe myself as a supermodel the online exclusive Skywalker Pilot Ski Suit does a pretty good job of covering up my modelling inadequacies. The ‘Omni-Tech waterproof breathable fabric‘ is comfortable, while the suit is incredibly warm and easy to zip up and secure. There are pockets on hips and flank as well as others on the arms and inside, and the bottom of the legs have zips and a popper on each side to open and secure around boots. I’ve never worn a ski suit before and was surprised just how comfortable and flexible the outfit is.
The Fantha team are on their way to Finse in mid February to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the filming of The Empire Strikes Back and along with the Ski Suit, their Skywalker Pilot Long-Sleeve Shirt with beautiful Ralph McQuarrie pre-production art will also be making the trip. The heavyweight cotton-blend fabric and long sleeves not only make this incredibly warm but durable, the perfect compliment to the Ski Suit. I kept it on after the photo shoot, and had to remove it as I was far too warm.
I’m not much of a cap wearer, but the Skywalker Pilot Ball Cap with Luke Skywalker’s helmet insignia and raised-silicone Rebel patch on the side is a winner. Comfortable and smart, it caps off the look (pun intended) and with adjustable snap fixing at the back is able to be worn by a variety of head sizes.
Rounding out the products that Columbia very generously sent us to review and wear is the Skywalker Pilot Crossbody Bag, complimenting the rest of the items with plenty of pockets and secure pouches that wil be perfect for the slopes or the convention floor. With raised-silicone logo patches along with an emblem inspired by Luke Skywalker’s helmet insignia and a message in Aurebesh, this is another high-quality addition to the line, very much what you’d expect from Columbia.
All in all this is a winning range, one that will certainly get a work out when the Fantha Tracks team head north to Norway and Finse next year. No chance of losing me in the snow now (though I’m sure they’ll try), this is such an attractive range of items there’s a good chance we’ll be diving in on 1st December to secure the Skywalker Pilot Ski Jacket, which will be perfect for everyday wear during the autumn and winter months.
