With the news coming out of Celebration Japan via Collider that Tony Gilroy has overseen a theatrical mix of episodes from the second season, specifically the first three episodes, he also points to the potential intent of screening the final episode as a double bill with Rogue One.
“It’s been discussed. We’ve mixed [Episodes] 1, 2, and 3 to play theatrically. They do need a little bit of an extra mix. We mix differently for how we deliver normally, because people watch on their iPads, on their TVs — it’s 5.1 [aspect ratio]. If you’re mixing for theaters, it’s not like a switch. It takes a couple hours or a day to do that. So we have [Episodes] 1, 2, and 3. If there was enough interest, I’m sure Disney would roadshow it at some point. Why not? I think they have interest in showing [Episode] 12 going into Rogue [One], but that depends on how the show does. They look good on a big screen.”
