While the world of Indiana Jones is inherently dangerous, it’s real-world counterpart in Orlando – the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular – is designed to be as safe as it can possibly be, but in life accidents and incidents happen. One such moment took place on New Years Eve as the 440 pound prop boulder came off the rails, leaving the main part of the stunt spectacular and bouncing towards the audience only for a cast member to quickly step in front of it, taking the momentum out of the boulder but also knocking him to the floor.
As the video above shows, the boulder has now been removed, presumably until changes can be made to ensure the prop remains on the rails, where it has run smoothly for many years.
A Walt Disney World worker was bowled over by a 400-pound runaway boulder that’s part of the park’s Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular in Orlando, Florida, with video of the incident making the social media rounds yesterday.
The boulder prop now appears to have been removed from the attraction after the accident.
In a statement to Deadline, a Disney spokesperson said, “We’re focused on supporting our cast member, who is recovering. Safety is at the heart of what we do, and that element of the show will be modified as our safety team completes a review of what happened.”

Best wishes to that quick-thinking cast member, and hopefully they’re already on the road to a quick recovery.
