Star Wars: Terror on Mustafar

Imperial cadets are in awe of the Empire’s mightiest warrior: Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith.

But when a few young cadets find themselves trapped on the lava-filled planet of Mustafar, and in the shadow of Vader’s castle, they will soon discover that the Empire is not what it seems.

Now, they must work together to escape from an evil scientist, his horrendous experiments, and the fearsome Darth Vader!

Author: Cavan Scott
Narrator: Marc Thompson
Cover Artist: Jake Bartok
Release date: April 30, 2026
Length: 229 minutes

Cavan Scott is no stranger to Vaders Castle. He has told many a scary tale set within Vader’s Mustafar retreat in comic book form, and in this Audible original production we see Vader and his home through new eyes.

Those eyes are young Zan who wants nothing more than to excel as a Star Scout and serve the Empire. Zan’s perspective is the readers main gateway in this story. Through his narration we learn that his home planet is a mining colony, and that all the young cadets are separated from their families. Zan doesn’t clearly see what the Empire is doing to them.

Zan’s adventures begin when he and his friend Deeta decide to investigate the arrival of Darth Vader to their town. Zan idolizes Vader, but that admiration quickly turns to fear as he and Deeta find themselves aboard Vaders ship heading for Mustafar.

Cavan Scott is a master at the audio format; his story really pulls the reader into Zan’s adventure, while narrator Marc Thompson captures the youthful versions of Zan and Deeta fantastically. You never forget that these characters are kids, not only by the choices they make but also by the delivery of Marc’s performance. Vader in this story is in peak Sith Lord form and Marc captures the terror of the kids interactions with him wonderfully. There are also some surprising guest stars in this book that long-time readers of Cavan’s stories in the galaxy will enjoy.

This is a solid fun listen, perfect for families. If you have an active Audible membership this book is free with the Plus membership, as well as available to buy.
