Top Movies and TV Series With “Star Wars” References

Star Wars takes a special place in the hearts of so many people. It is impossible to explain the success of the movies. It is a unique case in history. The universe that kept captivating the hearts and minds of so many generations. Of course, it seems to be that such old movies have to fade away in the ocean of modern cinema. It is not the case with Star Wars. It is impossible to imagine anything that could outdo the legendary saga. In fact, it is often other movies and series, old and new, who pay tribute to the films. So many media love inserting some type of references to Star Wars into their plots. After all, not getting such a reference will immediately show your bad taste in cinema. So, let’s see what those movies and series that honor Star Wars are.

Back to the Future (1985)

Let’s start with another old-time classic. Back to the Future got to the theaters about at the same time as the first Star Wars. What a legendary time for cinema that was. If you want to learn more about it, you may check out this advanced writers review to learn more about the service before ordering a paper.

It is fair to say that Back to the Future has the honor of being among the first one to insert a Star Wars reference in the dialogues. The reference takes place in the past in the conversation between Marty and young George (his dad). Marty pretends to be an alien from another planet who makes Geroge invite his future wife to the dance. The name of the alien was, you guessed it, Dart Vader. Well done, Marty, well done.

Armageddon (1998)

Star Wars returned the popularity of science fiction and especially space fiction. You want to learn more about this genre, check this affordablepapers review to ease your search of writers. As a result of the growing popularity of the genre, more movies like Armageddon started to appear by the end of the 1980s. The creators of Armageddon probably felt like they should honor the Star Wars for this sudden rise of space popularity. Though they did it not once, not twice, but three times. Almost all characters have participated in expressing their knowledge of Star Wars. Some have even taken the main character names for one scene. Thus, A.J. played by Ben Affleck and Oscar, Owen Wilson, for a brief moment has become Han Solo and Chewbacca.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

The comic books have opened a new stage in the movie industry, there’s no doubt about that. When their time came, the Star Wars movies had already been among the classics for quite a while. Though, even at the peak of popularity, directors of those movies did not forget to honor the space saga with their references. The Dark Knight Rises doesn’t have any verbal references about the movies as such. But its main villain, Blade, carries a remarkable resemblance to the Dark Vader character. Of course, Vader has become the symbol of all antagonists out there. Though, in this movie, Blade also suffers from some serious health issues which made him use an oxygen mask; he also has some tragic backstory and the desire to revenge. Nolan himself has admitted that Dark Vader was a prototype for the character of Blade he created

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

We bet you can’t draw any parallel between these two such different sagas. Of course, when one of them is a space thriller, and another is a medieval adventure, it is impossible to see any resemblances right on the spot. Don’t worry, you don’t need to read all those academized reviews wondering who can help you see the resemblance. Turns out, Star Wars was a great inspiration to Jack Peterson in his making of the Lord of the Rings. As a result, we often get a chance to witness those Star Wars-inspired moments in the first movie. The music, before everything else, is a big give away to the space saga. Sounds effects, in particular, come from Star Wars movies. We are sure that if Peter Jackson could have a chance to insert any direct references to the saga, he would definitely do it.

Mandalorian (2019 – present)

Well, we know that technically the series do not have any Star Wars references as such. Though, Mandalorian is a series where events take place in the Star Wars universe. The events there take place long before the plots of the movies begin to unravel. It is a series dedicated to a space warrior from a Mandalorian tribe who took the job of protecting a baby Yoda. Yep, you read it right, there is a baby Yoda in this series. If this didn’t make you search where to watch the series right away, we don’t know what will. Though all jokes aside, do look it up. It is a well-made series with beautiful visuals and the most adorable baby alien you have ever seen. Mandalorian is on its second season now.
