Promoting her new thriller Magpie, written by her husband Tom Bateman and co-starring fellow Star Wars actor Alistair Petrie (General Draven in Rogue One) and Star Trek Discovery star Shazad Latif*, Daisy Ridley was asked about her forthcoming return to the role of Rey Skywalker, and while she hadn’t much to tell she did drop some potential snippets of information. First she was asked whether the film was going to be called New Jedi Order.

“I don’t know! I mean, I think so. From the announcement, I don’t think that’s changed.”

Daisy also revealed that she has yet to read the script, saying

“I know a script is happening, and I’m going to be reading it imminently, which is very exciting.”

All positive news, and with The Mandalorian & Grogu filming in California this June we could be looking at a busy filming period for the saga as Daisy believes her film could start shooting later this year.

“I think it could be this year. It could be, but I’m not sure. I think to be honest, the writers’ strike has obviously delayed quite a lot of things. So the intention was later this year. Hopefully, it will be. Otherwise, top of next, I would imagine.”

Great news, and hopefully we’ll start hearing more about what’s ahead on the big screen. With no Celebration this year the source of the official news may come from different places, but whatever the news we’ll stay on top of it here on the site.
