Matt Lanter on future Anakin projects: “I’ve been a part of some things I can’t talk about yet.”

With The Bad Batch landing in just under a week, this comment from Matt Lanter is well timed. The voice of the animated Anakin Skywalker informs EW that he will return as the Chosen One in a future animated project.

“There’s some new Lucasfilm Animation going on. I’ve been a part of some things I can’t talk about yet. You’ll see Anakin again. I never quite put Anakin down, whether I’m doing a video game or something new for Lucasfilm Animation.”

Lanter went on to discuss the seventh and final season of The Clone Wars, which landed just as the global pandemic took hold. Was it a shock, to finally be finishing something started well over a decade before?

“It didn’t come as much of a shock as that first time because that first time we felt like we didn’t get to finish. Now, we properly got to finish. We got to send off the show in an emotional way in the way that Dave wanted to send it off. I actually think it was really cool that it premiered when everyone’s spirits were down. For Star Wars fans, it was exciting to have something new. I think it lifted everyone up a bit.”

Could Lanter be back in a The Bad Batch cameo, perhaps contributing to the post-Revenge of the Sith Vader performance just as we expect Hayden Christensen to be doing in Obi-Wan Kenobi, or will it be another as yet unamed show? May the 4th is less than a week away, and surely we can expect plenty of reveals on the day, so perhaps – and note that Disney Plus eclined to comment on Lanter’s words – we might be getting good news. Only time will tell.
