Incredible numbers have been spent in the latest Prop Store auction, bringing in a massive tally of $6.2 million (that’s £4.75 million) and while the biggest selling item this time round wasn’t from the Star Wars galaxy – that distinction goes to Mavericks helmet from Top Gun bringing in $325k, there was enough moolah spent in the GFFA to buy a fleet of Star Destroyers.

Darth Vader Promotional Costume With Poster-Matched Helmet from STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE (1977) sold for $287,500 (£221k)

Stormtrooper Helmet from STAR WARS: EPISODE IV – A NEW HOPE (1977) sold for $137,500 (£105.7k)
Duros Cantina Alien Mask from STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE (1977) sold for $100,000 (£76.9k)

Indiana Jones found his fortune and glory with the sale of the Raven Bar & Well of Souls Staff of Ra Headpiece from Raiders of the Lost Ark selling for $137,500 (£105.7k). Prop Store CEO Brandon Allinger spoke about the huge success of the auction.

“Prop Store’s first-ever Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction out of Los Angeles was a resounding success. The bidders were out in force and we had more registrants than any prior auction of this type. Maverick proved that he is still dangerous, with the Top Gun Maverick fighter pilot helmet selling for an incredible $325,000 with the buyer’s premium – more than five times its pre-sale estimate price. Darth Vader, cinema’s greatest villain, was not far behind – an original 1977 Vader touring costume sold for over $285,000 with buyer’s premium. We thank the many film fans and collectors who took part in the event and look forward to our next auction, which will be later this year from our London office.”
