Chewbacca’s bowcaster went up for auction in the latest Propstore auction, and unsurprisingly the fabled weapon went for an incredible figure, a roarsome $768,600. Considering the weapon has been screenmatched and verified to have been in all three original trilogy films – a rarity for OT props – that’s quite the steal.
Chewbacca’s bowcaster, used in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, has sold for $768,600. The item was one of 450 items for bidding by Propstore, a memorabilia company, at its Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in Los Angeles.
According to the item’s official description, the photo-matched bowcaster prop was used in every film of the original “Star Wars” trilogy, with restored dressing components. It was estimated to fetch $300,000 to $600,000. Chewbacca’s signature bowcaster served as his primary weapon in “Star Wars: A New Hope,” “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”
