The Propstore Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction: Los Angeles Summer 2025 will be with us in September, and ahead of what’s sure to be another stunning auction is a look at one of the most amazing pieces, a Rebel Pilot helmet from The Empire Strikes Back that lived in the collection of Patricia Carr, Assistant Production Manager on the original trilogy. The estimate for this beautiful John Mollo designed piece is $200,000 – $400,000, so bring your pocketbooks.

Estimate: $200,000 – $400,000

One of the standout highlights of our upcoming Los Angeles Summer auction is an exceptionally rare Rebel Pilot helmet, custom-made for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980). Created by Oscar-winning costume designer John Mollo – the creative force behind the iconic looks of Darth Vader, Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker – this remarkable artifact remains in unrestored, original condition.

Specifically crafted for The Empire Strikes Back, this helmet was used in the film’s legendary Battle of Hoth sequence, where Rebel snowspeeder pilots mount a daring assault against Imperial walkers. It features a yellow-tinted visor and a thick, custom-fitted foam liner – an original interior detail seen in only two known surviving examples held in private collections today, underscoring its extreme rarity and desirability.

Offered with an estimate of $200,000–$400,000 (£150,000–£300,000), this is the first time the helmet has been presented at auction in over 25 years and was previously held in a private collection, having originally come from Patricia Carr, Assistant Production Manager on the original trilogy.
