The Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23 2024 brought us some fascinating reveals, led by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro and for Lucasfilm lovers the big news was that Animal Kingdom will be welcoming a new 11-acre section of the park known as Pueblo Esperanza replete with a hacienda, a quick-service restaurant, a huge wooden carousel, a central fountain and two major new attractions. One is an Encanto-themed ride-through attraction, and the second brings the man in the hat back to life in a new Indiana Jones attraction.

Academy Award-winning actor Ke Huy Quan greeted fans at the Disney Experiences Showcase this evening at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event to help preview the adventure.

Quan, who began his film career playing Short Round in Lucasfilm’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), was joined by Disney Experiences chairman Josh D’Amaro and Walt Disney Imagineering chief creative officer Bruce Vaughn.

Together they explained more about this signature attraction coming to the new 11-acre Tropical Americas land at Animal Kingdom.

Take a closer look at some of the concept art below, and start making plans to be in Animal Kingdom in 2027 (maybe that’s where Celebration will be for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars).

The new Indy ride at Animal Kingdom will join the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular in Hollywood Studios at Disney World. Along with the arrival of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, it looks like the adventures of Henry Jones Jr are far from done. Finally, just in case there’s any doubt that this project – along with big plans for Encanto, Zootopia – is going to happen, Josh D’Amaro had this to say.

“At Disney Experiences, Imagineers dream, create, design and build these stories into real places. And we have Imagineers in place right now all around the world because everything we’re going to share with you is in active development. Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving. I just want to be clear about this: We are doing everything you’re going to hear tonight.”
