He might be 94, he might be very wisely making good use of a wheelchair these days, but with his “substantial” and “considerable, lengthy original score” for Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day a few months ahead of us, the maestro is proving to be every bit as busy and vital as he ever has. John Williams Fan Network take a look at his appearance in the crowd at a recent performance of his Trumpet Concerto, as well as giving us a look at what is known at this point about his work on Disclosure Day.

We welcomed conductor Anna Handler back to the Walt Disney Concert Hall stage for three performances of Rachmaninoff’s “Symphonic Dances” and John Williams’ Trumpet Concerto—and what a wonderful time it was!

The former Dudamel Fellow brought new energy and excitement to the program, which also spotlighted the expertise of Principal Trumpet Thomas Hooten. After crowd-funding and self-producing his own recording of John Williams’ concerto, Hooten skyrocketed all the way to No. 1 on the iTunes classical chart. An appearance by the legendary composer in the crowd made this program all the more special!
