SW41, the Star Wars event scheduled to take place at Fargo Village in Coventry on June 30th has sadly been cancelled.
In a statement on the SW41 Facebook page, organiser Jeff Cummings said :
“It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that SW41 will not be going ahead. This was not an easy decision to make but based on current ticket sales and perceived interest this is just not viable.
I do hope you understand and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. Those of you who did buy tickets will receive refunds today.”
We share Jeff’s frustration and would urge you as fans to support local events by buying tickets as early as you can. Smaller shows rely on ticket sales to attract guests and ensure they can cover their costs, and don’t have the resources of some of the bigger shows behind them so can’t afford to gamble on people turning up on the day.
We will of course be keeping you posted in the coming months on shows including Jeff’s other show Coventry Comic Con in September, but please support your local shows, they may not have the big names that the mega cons can attract but they are a wonderful place to meet stars of your favourite franchise and usually in a much more relaxed environment.
