It was one of the funniest, best delivered moments in a film packed with great humour, action and adventure, the moment in The Mandalorian and Grogu on Nal Hutta where the Anzellans find the entrance to the Twins audience chamber and, as the camera pans back quickly, one of the Anzellans says “Big pipe, huh?” Here via Jon Favreau’s director commentary available in North America on the TheatreEars app, we learn that the line was ad-libbed by the Anzellans voice actor Shirley Henderson, after Favreau approached The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams about using the diminutive droidsmiths.

Din Djarin is captured and taken to Nal Hutta by Embo the bounty hunter, and Grogu and his Anzellan pals set off on an adventure to rescue him. This involves climbing up to a pipe that leads deeper into the Hutt palace. As the camera pans down the long, dark tunnel the tiny friends will have to traverse, one of the Anzellans observes: “Big pipe, huh?”
We had the chance to chat with Shirley a few years ago on the blue caerpet at The Rise of Skywalker premiere, where she famously portrayed an Anzellan – Babu Frik – for the first time.
