A long-time parhner of Disney (a quarter of a century to be precise), Medicinema build cinemas inside hospitals to bring the magic of the movies to patients and families, and with the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu that partnership continues with this, a new Mando-inspired short film called “Escape to Another World” which sees a ‘young Star Wars fan whose imagination transforms his hospital stay into an unforgettable adventure‘.
Tied to the theatrical release of “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu”, The Walt Disney Company UK and Ireland today debuts its latest short film, “Escape to Another World”, as part of year two of Disney’s “The Magic of Movies” campaign. The campaign supports one of its long-term charity partners, MediCinema, to help raise awareness of the power of the big screen for NHS hospital patients and help generate support and awareness for the charity.

The 70-second Mandalorian-themed short film, created in collaboration with Feref and produced by Tinderflint, celebrates joy, wonder and the magic of cinema, while encouraging audiences to support this special charity.The film follows a young Star Wars fan in hospital, who escapes into the Star Wars universe while watching the latest release at MediCinema. On a journey back through his imagination, we return to his hospital bed, where an invitation to MediCinema’s special screening of The Mandalorian and Grogu eases his anxiety. A powerful reminder of the comfort, connection and escapism cinema can bring to those who need it most.
The short film is available to watch on YouTube and will be shown in Vue cinemas nationwide ahead of select screenings of “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” from today, 22 May. It ends with a call to action for fans to donate to MediCinema’s mission at medicinema.org.uk/give or at Vue when booking tickets online or when purchasing drinks and snacks.
