Born on this days in 1949, you could argue that after George Lucas, Lawrence Kasdan has had the biggest influence on the written Star Wars story.

Brought in to adapt Lucas’s Indiana Smith ideas that would ultimately coalesce into Raiders of the Lost Ark, Kasdan was given the chance to do a draft of The Empire Strikes Back following the passing of Leigh Brackett and the rest is history.

Return of the Jedi followed along with a hugely successful movie directing career.  2015 saw his return to Star Wars with The Force Awakens.

May 25th will see his next foray into the GFFA with Solo: A Star Wars Story, and given his excellent form we’re in for a treat.

Many happy returns and thank you Lawrence.
