Happy fifth birthday to The Mandalorian

Five years ago on Tuesday 12th November the number 1 single in The States was Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi, while here in the UK it was Dance Monkey by Tones and I, 5.35 million people watched Linda and Mick take a trip down memory lane in EastEnders while the number one film in the UK for the sixth and final week was Joker, with Midway topping the US charts. All well and good, but the big news was the launch of Disney Plus with something very special that would change the galaxy – The Mandalorian. It’s hard to believe it’s half a decade since we first met the mysterious Mandalorian man-with-no-name, brought to us by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni and kicking off the Disney Plus era of live action Star Wars adventures, something George Lucas has dreamed of and planned for years, almost pushing the button a decade before with Underworld.

Visual effects by ILMVFX were complimented by the award winning score by Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Gorranson, the sizzle on the steak of a cast comprised of Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, Gina Carano, Werner Herzog, Taika Waititi and Giancarlo Esposito. Right now we’re three seasons in and with a further three series set within the era (The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew) and a film heading our way May 2026, our journey with Din Djarin and Din Grogu is far from over.
