With the news breaking early today from Lucasfilm that ‘Starfighter‘ the new movie from Shawn Levy, and starring Ryan Gosling has begun production – speculation has immediately turned to who the newly announced cast will be playing.

Industry leading news site, The Hollywood Reporter had suggested that actress Amy Adams will be playing the mother to Flynn Gray’s as yet unnamed teen character.
Actors Stateside and in the UK were in contention for months and months before casting Gray, who has appeared in one episode of Wednesday and an Irish crime show titled Borderline.
An almost equally healthy search was conducted for the actress to play his mother, a role which appears to have gone to Adams.
Known for her work in films such as Catch Me If You Can, and American Hustle – Adams has previously worked with Shawn Levy as he directed Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian alongside Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Robin Williams. She also starred in the critically acclaimed Arrival by Dune director Denis Villeneuve, which was produced by Levy and also starred Star Wars alumni Forrest Whitaker, and was filmed by Solo: A Star Wars Story cinematographer Bradford Young.
