In what is shaping up to be a very high-profile Star Wars reunion, creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Solo: A Star Wars Story) has more GFFA talent joining her Tomb Raider adaptation. The series, which stars Sophie Turner, now adds Sigourney Weaver (The Mandalorian and Grogu) and Jason Isaacs (Star Wars: Rebels) who join Celia Imrie (The Phantom Menace) in the upcoming Amazon series.
“Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters,” said Waller-Bridge. “I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix. This cast is beyond my wildest dreams.”
both were circling over the past few weeks and Amazon has now said that Isaacs will play Atlas DeMornay, one of the canon roles, and Weaver will be Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious, high-flying woman who is keen to exploit Lara’s talents.
The pair are confirmed alongside Sophie Turner who is playing the lead. Angelina Jolie portrayed the same character in the noughties movies franchise.
The trio are joined by a wealth of new cast members. Martin Bobb-Semple will play Zip and Bill Paterson is Winston from the canon. From the Tomb Raider universe come Jack Bannon, who plays Gerry, John Heffernan, playing David, and Celebrity Traitors UK alum Celia Imrie, who is Francine. There are also roles for Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed and August Wittgenstein.
