Collider interview John Boyega on producing Pacific Rim, and what he knows (if anything) about Episode IX.

Watch our interview with John Boyega where he talks about producing Pacific Rim 2, what he knows about J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode 9, and when he’s going to stop by Collider’s Jedi Council.

During the interview, Boyega talked about producing his first big budget Hollywood movie, what surprised him about the process, how involved he was in the editing room and if he ever wanted to use a different take than what the director had, what they learned from early test screenings that impacted the finished film, and more. In addition, we talked about Collider’s Jedi Council YouTube show and if he’s ever going to stop by, and if J.J. Abrams has told him anything about Star Wars: Episode 9.

As most of you know, Steven S. DeKnight directed the sequel when Guillermo del Toro decided to focus on The Shape of Water. The Pacific Rim sequel stars John Boyega as Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba’s character from the first movie, and the story takes place 10 years after the events of Pacific Rim. The Jaeger program has now evolved and expanded into a massive global defense force after the Battle of the Breach, which comes in handy when the Kaiju threat returns. The film also stars Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Tian Jing, Adria Arjona and Rinko Kikuchi.
