The film is almost here, Fantha Tracks have reviewed it and covered the European Royal premiere (with plenty more coverage to come) and over at The Metro I take a look at Finn’s role in the movie and why the story of The Last Jedi is so pivotal for him.

As the arrival of The Last Jedi trickles down to its final days, we reach the final stretch of our look at key characters from the film, and why its events are so important to them.

The last time we saw Finn – the Stormtrooper who turned his back on the First Order and sided with Rey – he was severely injured at the wrong end of Kylo Ren’s blade.

Slashed up the spine, we left him on a medical bed, unconscious as Rey flew to the island of Ahch-To in search of the long-lost Jedi, Luke Skywalker.

As we saw in the many and numerous trailers, teasers and TV spots, Finn awakes and embarks on a mission to the casino city of Canto Bight.

It’s worth remembering though, the last film saw him prepare to leave our heroes and strike out alone for the Outer Rim, to get away from the conflict and death, and live a quiet life far away from the First Order.
