No Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian in ‘The Last Jedi’

Canto Bight may seem to be the most logical place to find Lando Calrissian, especially if he were to make any kind of appearance in The Last Jedi, but director Rian Johnson confirms that Billy Dee Williams in the guise of the former baron administrator won’t be in the movie.

“No, and I don’t want fans to get their hopes up. He’s not in the film and it was never really something that came up. I mean, I loved that character. It would have been fun to see him, but it’s just not something that ever really had a place in the story.”

A shame, but far better for Lando to be serving the story rather than a gimmick easter egg appearance. And there’s always next May and Solo, or even Episode 9….
