While it’s home may be the hyperspace lanes of the Star Wars galaxy, the physical birthplace of the full-scale Millennium Falcon was here in the UK, specifically at Pembroke Dock in Pembrokeshire, Wales. From there, the galaxy’s greatest stock light freighter was taken to Elstree Studios in London where it shone as one of the stars of The Empire Strikes Back.
A family of excited Star Wars fans has turned up at a new exhibition on the construction of the Millennium Falcon months before it opens.
A life-size prop of the spaceship was built in Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, in 1979 for The Empire Strikes Back, which was filmed in Elstree.
And news of a permanent exhibition there, due to open in April, pushed the family to make the jump to hyperspace prematurely.
Stay tuned to Fantha Tracks over the coming weeks as there may well be some more Millennium Falcon related content coming to the site.
