The soon-to-be star of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival, the (hopefully) present and future star of Skeleton Crew and the very much in-demand actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong joins her co-stars of The Lowdown, a new eight-part series starring Ethan Hawke (and a star-studded cast) that’s heading to FX starting 23rd September.

Filmed on location in Tulsa and Bartlesville last spring, the show follows Lee Raybon (Hawke), a hard-edged citizen journalist and self-proclaimed “truthstorian” who runs a rare bookstore in the city’s urban core. When a high-profile death is ruled a suicide, Raybon suspects foul play tied to a powerful political family. What follows is a gritty unraveling of secrets, corruption and personal demons — all with Oklahoma as both setting and character.

The new series draws inspiration from real-life Oklahoma journalist Lee Roy Chapman and features a cast packed with talent: Emmy winner Keith David, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson, Kyle MacLachlan, Tracy Letts and Peter Dinklage, among others.
